📋 What are the FIS Rules?

FIS (Fédération Internationale de Ski) is the International Ski Federation that developed 10 rules of conduct on ski slopes. The FIS Rules apply to all ski resorts in Poland and worldwide, including ski lifts in Wisła.

1️⃣ Respect for Others

Every skier and snowboarder must behave in such a way as not to endanger others.

2️⃣ Control of Speed and Skiing

A skier/snowboarder must ski in control and must be able to stop or turn to avoid other skiers.

3️⃣ Choice of Route

A skier coming from behind must choose their route in such a way that they do not endanger the skier ahead.

4️⃣ Overtaking

A skier may overtake another skier above or below, to the right or to the left, provided they leave enough space for the overtaken skier.

5️⃣ Entering and Starting

Every skier entering a marked run or starting again after stopping must look up and down the slopes to ensure they can do so without endangering themselves or others.

6️⃣ Stopping on the Piste

Unless absolutely necessary, a skier must avoid stopping on the piste in narrow places or where visibility is restricted.

7️⃣ Climbing and Descending

A skier ascending or descending on foot must keep to the side of the piste.

8️⃣ Respect for Signs and Markings

Every skier must respect signs and markings.

9️⃣ Assistance

At accidents, every skier is duty-bound to assist.

Every skier, whether a witness or party involved in an accident, must exchange names and addresses.
